ABOUT DR. AMELIA GALLITANO
Dr. Amelia Gallitano’s commitment to service was shaped by her family and the values she was raised with. From an early age, she was taught that if you can help others, you have a responsibility to step forward — a principle that has guided her entire life and career.
Nearly two decades ago, Dr. Gallitano moved to Phoenix to help build the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Phoenix, working to expand healthcare access and train the next generation of doctors. She raised her two sons in Legislative District 2, where they attended local public schools, and built deep roots in the community.
PROFESSIONAL CAREER
Dr. Gallitano is a board-certified psychiatrist, neuroscientist, and professor who has spent her career serving Arizona families. She has taught future doctors, treated veterans with PTSD, and led internationally recognized research focused on mental health.
She currently serves as Director of the MD/PhD Program at the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Phoenix. Her work has earned her honors, including the Phoenix Business Journal’s Outstanding Women in Business Award.
WHY SHE’S RUNNING
Dr. Gallitano is running for State Senate because too many Arizona families are being left behind. Costs are rising from housing and healthcare to utilities, while the state legislature too often ignores the real challenges people face.
As a doctor, she has seen what happens when families can’t afford care. As a single mother, she understands the pressures of making ends meet. She knows Arizona needs leaders who focus on real solutions, not political games.
Dr. Gallitano is committed to lowering costs, strengthening public schools, protecting Arizona’s water future, and ensuring decisions at the Capitol are grounded in facts and focused on improving people’s lives.
